TREK THE HIMALAYAS PART 3
And into the mountains i go to lose my mind and find my soul.
so the protocol for day 2 is
7 am wake up call with tea
8 am breakfast with a view
9 am off to our next mesmerising stop that is kedarkantha base camp
evening a little acclimatize walk and
later the best sunset view that blows your minds off.
Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb , and its in this mystery that we find ourselves. We were at a bit better space from where we had started , soaking in all the sun that we could , trying to live the mountain life...even the smallest things like a hot cup of tea is all that we need to recharge and refuel our bodies and soul in a place far away from home. We were all ready and our trek leaders make us do some warm up exercises so that we are comfortable for our next task ahead.
Me being the slowest, my trek leaders places me in front and tells me to lead the group but alas after a hike of roughly 15-20 mins my pace reduces and slowly slowly i reach the last place....but not for a second i am demotivated ,the climb is something with which you get to reveal a beauty outside and inside you and i was just soaking in the beauty that i was surrounded with. We are wearing our spikes and gaiters now and so we were able to walk a bit more confidently in the snow . The path was only and only covered with snow and with each step that we take we are just enthralled with the beauty that we are walking in
Todays trek was not all that difficult indeed i would say it was more fun and we reach our next base camp soon to and as we are nearing our camp site we get to see our summit peak and that just blows us away. Its in that moment that we realise that the mountains are calling us .
We reach our base camp and are happy that we passed through our day 2 without any major hurdles, our trek leaders make us do some warm ups and we are allocated our tents and served hot relishing food, after which we are told that we would be going for a little walk in the evening so that our body gets a bit acclimatized with the challenges for the next big day
.
We meet up in some time wearing our spikes and gaiters and leave for that walk.... There was just snow everywhere and we were allowed to take a path that was not explored before and so by doing that we step on snow that goes down till our hips... we laugh have fun do snow fights build our little snowman make him wear all the accessories that we are wearing and click a bundle of pictures.. these moments are just so priceless where at one place we are challenging ourselves and at the next moment we are just letting go of whatever we carry because in the mountains its not us that matters but its the mountains that matter. We get back to our camps holding on to each other and with super happy faces. Just then i spot a few girls who are doing a photo shoot in the mountains wearing a saree it reminded me of a scene from the ae dil mushkil and i thought why not give a try , so to try my luck i approach them and by chance i happen to know from the place that they belong so we happily chit chat and they are more than happy to share their sarees and a little girl goes out of the way and applies some make up on us to and helps us to give an idea of some poses that we could try... it was so much funnnnn......
Trek leaders call us again and check our oxygen levels and pulse rates and give us an agenda for the next day which starts at midnight 1:30 . Yes you heard it right the summit day trek starts in the night so that we reach the peak to a beautiful sunrise and as he is telling us this he makes us experience one of the beautiful sunsets from the base camp. We are all thrilled and excited as temperature in the night is approx -10degrees .I am all excited as its also our wedding anniversary and i had planned a beautiful surprise for my partner at the peak., so lets c how that goes.
As the sun sets the temperatures start dropping and we are only shivering ,we are served our happy meal in our dinning tent and sit there in some warmth chitchatting with our friends and our trek guides. We call it a night a bit early as our next day starts early..
So my next post would be a tad bit longer as that day was the longest in our and best in our trek. Hope you enjoyed the journey with me till now and hope it inspires you to put this on your bucket list.
